Open Positions:

  • The Immigrant and Refugee Law Center (IRLC) is a fast-growing nonprofit providing pro bono immigration legal services to low-income immigrant and refugee families in the Greater Cincinnati region. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated attorney to join our team at a critical time for immigrant communities.

     

    Job Summary:

    IRLC has an immediate opening for a bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) immigration attorney to support detained and at-risk individuals. This position focuses on rapid response to enforcement actions, bond representation, habeas petitions, and full representation before immigration courts and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

     

    Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Advise clients on immigration options and legal rights

    • Represent clients in immigration court, including removal and bond proceedings

    • Prepare and file applications, petitions, waivers, appeals, and habeas petitions

    • Provide rapid response support related to ICE enforcement actions

    • Collaborate with community partners, rapid response networks, and legal service providers

    • Engage in coalition work and community-based advocacy efforts

    • Deliver trauma-informed, client-centered legal services

    • Perform other related duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications and Skills: 

    • J.D. from an accredited law school

    • Licensed to practice law (Ohio or eligible for admission)

    • Experience in immigration law; detention experience strongly preferred

    • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills

    • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment

    • Commitment to serving immigrant communities and advancing social justice

    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred 

     

    Salary and Benefits: 

    Salary range $75,000 – 85,000 a year, depending on experience.

  • Bilingual Office Coordinator

    The Immigrant and Refugee Law Center (IRLC) is a unique and fast-growing nonprofit organization that provides pro bono immigration legal services to low-income immigrant and refugee families in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Join our dynamic team!

    Job Summary:

    IRLC seeks a bilingual (English/Spanish, other languages a plus), highly organized and motivated individual for the role of Bilingual Administrative Assistant. This is a critical role in our office with room for growth.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform initial screenings with clients, and schedule consultations

    • Prepare and send follow-up letters to clients

    • Enter data into online systems

    • Communicate with clients to coordinate meetings, obtain necessary documents, give case updates, etc.

    • Coordinate logistics with student interns and volunteer attorneys

    • Perform administrative duties such as handling incoming and outgoing mail, making copies, scanning documents, organizing and managing calendars and appointments, drafting letters to clients, making travel arrangements, etc.

    • Perform office management duties including ordering and managing office supplies and equipment and interacting with vendors

    • Translate documents and interpret for clients as needed

    • Draft letters and documents and perform other administrative tasks for staff as needed

    • Provide other program support as needed

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required, other languages a plus

    • 1-2 years working experience as a legal/administrative assistant or similar position

    • Strong office management skills

    • Excellent communications skills and cultural competency

    • Highly organized and detail oriented

    • Motivated and takes initiative

    • Experience with online case and donor management systems such as LawLogix and Salesforce a plus; or ability to learn quickly and take initiative

    • Strong team player with the ability to work independently and to multitask

    • Ability to work effectively under deadlines

    • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise

    • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office

    • Two-year degree or equivalent certification; bachelor’s degree preferred

    Salary and Benefits:
